Tailored therapy approach
You make an appointment to see a therapist for an initial assessment and then, together, you decide whether you want therapy. Our therapist will discuss with you the basis of your working together. This will include clarification of the method, duration and frequency of sessions, fees, confidentiality and other issues.
A range of approaches is available and the way we will work together is determined by your needs and preferences. Our therapist aims to adapt to your needs, and different ways of working will be integrated in order to suit you. Therapy can be on a short-term basis and focussed on a particular issue, or longer term, for more in-depth work. The most appropriate time-scale will be discussed with you.
Most people attend therapy once a week and each session lasts 50 minutes. There is of course no obligation to continue after the first exploratory session, and you may terminate at any time. Usually though, unless you want a fixed short-term contract, it is best to be flexible as it is often hard to estimate how long the process may take. In long-term therapy, the ending will be arrived at gradually and by mutual agreement
